Warmth and good cheer for the new year

Transition Sheffield wishes you warmth and good cheer at the turning of the year…

The last Transition Hub meeting wasn’t particularly productive as no new faces came
forward to bring us new energy, but we’re excited to report that Transition Sheffield will be helping with a new project in the spring called Green Homes Sheffield.

Green Homes Sheffield will be led by Jenny Patient and host of other great organisations will be involved:

  • Regather
  • Green Triangle community groupsnowflakes
  • South Yorkshire Energy Centre at Heeley City Farm
  • Sheffield Renewables
  • Energy Saving Co-op
  • Sheffield City Council Sustainable Development group
  • Nick Parsons Sustainable Building
  • EnergyJump Ltd
  • Sheffield Hallam University ‘House Warming’ Knowledge Exchange Project
  • Sheffield Students’ Union ‘Green Impact Student Homes’ project
  • Fireside Housing Co-operative

The idea of the project is to encourage householders to tackle energy issues in their homes by letting them visit other homes where energy efficient or sustainable features have already been incorporated, and also put them in touch with contractors who’d be happy to help with similar work.
A key part of the project will be setting up a number of Green Open Homes events in March-May 2014. If you think your home could be eligible for involvement, or you’d like to help, then watch out for calls for further participation. We’ll also organise a Cafe event on this theme in the spring.

So we wish you warm well-insulated homes, low fuel bills, and friendly supportive communities, and hope to see you in the new year.
